The Magic of Life - My Birth

On Sunday the 27th of August 1972, I have been born at, the now demolished, St. Josef Hospital in Eindhoven (NL), in the morning at 09:45 as the first son of my parents, both at the time only recently turned 17 years old. It must have been a hard but wonderful day as I was the reason they both got permission to get married, at age 16, just 4 months earlier that year, by authority of Constant NM Kortmann, Queens' Commissioner of Brabant in name of  H.M. Juliana, Queen of The Netherlands, Princess of Oranje-Nassau, reigned 1949-1980. This because the Dutch Law does not allow minors under 18 years of age to marry without permission of their families and the Royal House.

It is said that I have been born with the placenta "helmet like" on my head. As a birth mark I still have a wine-red "Stork bite" in my nape. Hence the Dutch traditional belief that Storks, Ciconia ciconia, deliver babies carrying them home after birth. At birth, I was pretty short (43 cm), totally bald with blue eyes and was not very heavy (5.8 lbs) either, yet just good enough to not end up in the incubator of a baby-care unit.

During this time of peace and freedom movement sought by the Baby-boom generation (born ~1945-1955), who paved the way for the sexual revolution of the Flower Power era (~1965-1975), I was now born the first 'Generation X' grandson and great-grandson in the 4th generation of males in the 'Vaassen' family tree. My grand-fathers were of Flemish origin.

Official Climatologic Report at Date of Birth

As autumn was closing in, the weather was fairly cold for the time of the year, just above 10'C, and it was pretty clouded keeping the sun away, with an humidity of 77% with a reasonable good air pressure of 1018,6 hPa at 16 m asl, so there was no rain that day.
